It was announced earlier today that Josh Brolin had been cast to voice the role of Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy and we'd all have to assume Avengers: Age of Ultron. We caught a glimpse of Thanos in the credits scene of Avengers and it got the geek world buzzing.
In the past I've been very critical of the X-Men films. I'm close to this franchise, because as a young person it was my first real comic series that I fell in love with. There were the comics, the animated series, and the toys. I loved the X-Men and at a young age I couldn't get enough of them. Then as I got older, they announced the release of the first X-Men film. I could not wait to see it and it was amazing. Then X2 came out and it was even better than the first, but it was downhill from there. X-Men: The Last Stand left a very sour taste in my mouth. And it was all made worse with the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine even though I finally got to see my favorite mutant, Gambit, hit the big screen. I was given hope, however, when X-Men: First Class came out. I enjoyed it a great deal and couldn't wait for more films with these characters and actors. So, now we have X-Men: Days of Future Past.
News has broken that Marvel/Netflix have finally found their Daredevil. Comic fans will be pleased to know that Boardwalk Empire alumni Charlie Cox has been cast to play the daring crusader known as "Daredevil". Speculation on who would play Marvel's fearless hero has been running rampant, and we can now say with certainty that the character has officially been cast! What do you think of Charlie Cox being cast as "Daredevil"? We're always interested to know what you guys are thinking so feel free to send us your opinions towards this recent revelation!
Welcome to the first edition of Ongoing. Ongoing will be my comic book review article that I'll post every week, hopefully twice a week in which I'll pick up a book (new or old) and review it to the best of my ability. I'll also take suggestions from you guys as to what I should be reading and reviewing. And this week I read the conclusion to Geoff Johns Forever Evil storyline. Be warned, there will be spoilers in this review.
In case you missed it, the dearly beloved Matt Smith has departed as the Eleventh Doctor. Taking his place is Peter Capaldi and we couldn't be more excited to see what he does with this iconic role. Joining him as his companion is Clara Oswald, played be the lovely and talented Jenna Coleman. This week, BBC One released this little teaser to get our motors running.
A few years ago DC decided to reboot all of their titles. It was a bold move and it did increase sales. It also increased my interest in a lot of books. Along the way they made some big changes, and continue to make changes to this day. They're taking the past and making it new again. Some of us seem to take offense to this. It's a lot like when a movie studio remakes a classic film. The internet is all a flutter with rage and hate when a reboot or remake hits the theaters and besmirches your favorite film's good name. But does it really hurt the classic film?
It was reported earlier today that Edgar Wright and Marvel were parting ways. The film was already deep into production. Marvel released the following statement about the seperation:
Some friends of the site have sent us their music video inspired by everyone's favorite wall-crawler, Spider-Man. The video for the song, 'He's Spider-Man' is by the Ray Wall Band and can be seen below!
Marvel has been busy fortifying their expansive cinematic universe. Renewing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and ordering Agent Carter to series. They also have a slew of shows in production for Netflix, set to release in early 2015, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage which will culminate in a miniseries called the Defenders. Now we have "news" that ABC's 'The Middle" star Eden Sher has been to the Marvel offices and has been given stacks of comics (for reasearch?). She's also been in Twitter communication with the current writer of Ms. Marvel. Personally I'd love to see Katee Sackhoff as Ms. Marvel. Is it possible she's up for the role of Ms. Marvel? Maybe Jessica Jones? What do you guys think? Was it just a special visit to promote the finale of 'The Middle?' Was it more? Do you wanna see Ms. Marvel on the big screen?
After all the swirling casting rumors, and then the swirling hate towards those casting announcments we've been waiting impatiently for the official title of the Man of Steel sequel. It's finally here. 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is the official title of our first venture towards a Justice League film. There's even an official website now as well, check it out here. What do you guys think of the title? Or of the artwork released along with the title?
They teased it, and here it is. A new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer ripe with action, adventure, and a talking raccoon and tree. Finally we get to hear Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel as Rocket Raccoon and Groot.
Last night we got a teaser...today, after it was announced that The Flash will air on Tuesdays at 8PM EST on The CW we got an extended look. What do you think Flash fans?
We've seen him on 'Arrow' and we've been getting small glimpses of the scarlet speedster during filming of the pilot, but now we have our first full teaser for 'The Flash' starring Grant Gustin. Here it is, in case you blinked and missed it. What did you think? Are you excited? Is there such a thing as too many comic book television shows?
DC fans rejoice, today is the day of the Bat! Zack Snyder ominously posted the back two wheels of the Batmobile yesterday on Twitter , and today has followed up with our first look at Ben Affleck as Batman! We couldn't be more excited about this big reveal , and hope more new photos will soon follow. Sound off and let us know what you think of the new Batsuit and Batmobile!
Big day today for comic book and movie fans alike. Current X-Men film producer Lauren Shuler released official confirmation today that Channing Tatum will be playing Remy LeBeau a.k.a Gambit in future X-Men movies. There had been rumors that this was happening for quite some time but today it has finally become official. Gambit had previously been portrayed by Taylor Kitsch in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. What are your thoughts towards Tatum playing the highly popular X-Men character we all know and love? Sound off and let us know what you think!
DC fans have a lot to look forward to this fall. Not only is Arrow returning to the CW for its third season, but The Flash is joining the CW line-up. Over on FOX, the world of Gotham will hit the small screen. And not to be outdone in the battle of network geeks, NBC has Constantine, primed and ready for the airwaves.
Fox wasted no time in announcing that it was picking up the series 'Gotham' guaranteeing at least thirteen episodes. While I'm fairly confident they'll make it a full season, this is Fox we're talking about here. The series will serve as an origin story for Gotham City itself, along with several well known Batfamily characters. We'll see newly orphaned Bruce Wayne dealing with the loss of his parents. And if the teaser trailer is any indication, we'll see quite a few villainous faces as well. We're looking forward to this series, while praying that Fox does not screw this up as they have so many times before. What do you guys think? Excited for this new show? Ready for a side of the Bat we haven't seen on television or in the movies?
"With great powers, comes great responsibility." Every self-respecting Spider-Man fan knows this quote. It was forced down our throats in the late 90's Animated Spider-Man series. Uncle Ben left this message for Peter Parker before he died and it was echoed throughout his career as the web-head. We get a taste of this mentality in this sequel to Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider=Man.
After months of months speculating and running the rumor mill wild on the internets, starwars.com has finally announced the cast for Star Wars: Episode VII:
