In honor of upcoming Atomic Geekdom Podcast guest, 'Morning Glories' co-creator and artist, Joe Eisma, we're giving away a copy of 'Morning Glories' issue number 39. Did I mention that it's signed by Mr. Eisma himself? Well it is! And it can be yours very simply.
From a very early age, I was fascinated with the Robin character in the Batman universe. Not just with the comics, but with the '66 television series, the animated series, and continuing on into Teen Titans and Nightwing. He eventually would break away from Batman to be his own hero. He recognized that he would forever be in Bruce's shadow so he left Gotham and became a vision of hope for a new city that needed a savior.
Exciting news for Flash Fans and Robbie Amell fans alike. It has just been announced that actor Robbie Amell, who formerly starred in The CW's recently canceled series The Tomorrow People, has been cast as one half of the DC Comics Character Firestorm aka Ronnie Raymond!
Casting news has been coming fast and furiously this past week as we approach the fall television season. Last week we found out that Devon Aoki was cast to appear in Season 3 of CW's Arrow. She'll be portraying the intriguing and enigmatic character Tatsu Yamashiro aka Katana. All indications lead to her being in Oliver's flashback storyline.
The topic came up a few weeks ago on Twitter with a few people. Its an ongoing concern for ladies that are fans of comic books, and just women in general. The question is are women being exploited with their characterizations in comic books. Think for a moment about the women you see in the pages of your favorite books. How do they look? How are they dressed? How realistic do they appear? Should they appear realistic?
I can remember vividly, seeing the first Jurassic Park film twenty years ago. It was really the first time I saw a film that I had previously read the novel first. I loved Michael Crichton's book and it really got me to read more of his work which in turn, really got me interested in science fiction and in science. The film, however, captured my imagination in a way I wasn't expecting. The way it was shot, the special effects mixed with practical effects and the music made me believe this park could be real. The suspense, the pacing, the acting, the humor, the drama, all of it made for a great film that's stuck with me ever since.
In anticipation for the two part finale to The Hunger Games saga, we have been given this Panem propaganda video. It adds a little hint as to what's to come for one of our favorite Tributes.
A lot has already been said about the new Ninja Turtles movie that's set for release on August 8th. A lot of people hate the way the turtles look for this Michael Bay film, personally I'm not a fan but trying to remain optimistic. In this latest trailer, we get a bigger glimpse into the storyline and plot for the film, and it does give me some hope that it will be more entertaining than Transformers was.
This is all unconfirmed and should be taken strictly as rumor as of right now, but JoBlo.com is reporting some interesting (SPOILERY) details about Wonder Woman's costume and some aspects of Batman/Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor's characters for the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice mega movie.
Marvel's Netflix series Daredevil has added Rosario Dawson to its cast that already includes Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) and Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin).
The newest installment in the Star Wars saga has not even finished production and they've already found their next writer/director for Episode VIII. Rian Johnson has been tapped to pen the script and direct the second film in the new trilogy.
Since he was cast as Batman/Bruce Wayne for what was originally thought of as the sequel to Man of Steel (but has since become a stand alone film titled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.) we've been curious as to when Ben Affleck would get his solo film as the Dark Knight. Rumor has it (latino-review.com) that we'll be seeing him return (after a stint in 'Justice League' in May of 2017) to the cape and cowl in 2019 to begin the new franchise of Bat films.
I'm ready for this film already, I don't need anymore trailers or teasers but here's another one and I'm salivating for this movie! I can't wait to see Guardians of the Galaxy. Here's the newest trailer from Marvel:
Over the last few months rumors have been swirling around the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film, that Jason Momoa had been cast in an undisclosed role. He's flat out denied it repeatedly, even laughing at the notion that he'd be portraying Aquaman. But today the internet is saying that it's been "confirmed" that the Game of Thrones star has been cast as Aquaman for the 2016 comic book blockbuster.
In what was allegedly going to be released at Comic-Con International, Deadline found, Nikki Finke has posted a listing of some soon to be produced WB films based on DC comic book properties. Again this is all rumor up to this point, with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice being the only one in production as I type.
In a second trailer for the upcoming NBC series "Constantine" we got a glimpse into a much larger universe that may be spawned from the show. Take a look and tell us what you think of this second trailer and the possibility of a growing DC universe within this show.
Inspired by a (hopefully false) crazy rumor that Twilight's very own Robert Pattinson would be taking the whip as the new Indiana Jones, we bring our first Fan Casting. You guys get to weigh in on who you'd cast as the new Indiana Jones. It's entirely up to you. So...let's hear it. Who do you want to see as Indiana Jones in any future installments of the much loved franchise...well it was, until Crystal Skull. Leave your comments below!
Well, even though Marvel has lost their 'Ant-Man' director, its found their 'Doctor Strange' director. Scott Derrickson has been chosen to direct the adaptation to the large screen, ushering Marvel fans into the realm of the supernatural. Sure we've had aliens, and Gods and such, but Doctor Strange is a bit different and promises to bring something new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He got name dropped in 'Captain America: Winter Soldier' and now we have solid confirmation of his very own stand alone film.
