Cable network TNT is working on a deal to produce a pilot based on the teenage super team, Teen Titans from DC that would be called 'Titans.' Akiva Goldsman (Fringe, A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend) is writer/executive producer on the project with Warner Horizon Television producing. This would add the increasing large number of DC Comics television adaptations that are already in production. Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, and Constantine will be airing soon, along with the rumored Supergirl pilot that's being shopped around.
At the rate the Strain is picking up momentum we have to be careful not to blink or to miss something. So from here on out, “Spoiler Alert” & “Ear Muffs” if you do not want to know what has happened thus far.
For those of you who have read my bio on the site, you may already know that I am a Christian. I made the decision to accept Jesus as my savior in middle school and since then everything that I experience is viewed through the lens of God`s Word, the Bible. As a huge fan of all things that reside in the Geekdom, I also view those things through that same lens. Quite often, I will read a comic book or watch a movie and see a strong biblical message within. The reality is that many of the attributes that we love about our heroes/villains and situations they get into can be found in the Bible. For example, we like our heroes to be honest, bold, and courageous. The Bible encourages all of us to be those things, not just those of us that are "super". That is what this regular article will focus on, the biblical ideas and lessons that I see within my favorite comics, TV shows, and movies. I would love to write an article on anything that you guys suggest I read or watch.
Season Two of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' will premiere in roughly two weeks, and we finally get a small glimpse as to what we can expect in the episode titled "Shadows":
Games with Gold is a program that Microsoft started over the summer of 2013 to give two free games a month to digitally download for members of the Xbox live community with a gold membership. Sony has the same program for PlayStation subscribers, but that’s for a different article. The concept of giving out free games seems to be interesting, but when you think about free video games the first thing that comes to mind for the most part is these games are terrible, right? As in the words of famous collegiate football athlete and commentator Lee Corso, “Not so fast, my friend.”
It’s that time of the year, folks. The summer gaming drought is once again upon us. Game releases are few and far between, and most gamers resort to playing their massive backlogs (thanks, Steam sales) to get them through this dry season. While some of us have moved on to the next generation of gaming, most of the general population are still playing their “last gen” consoles. If you are one of those people that happens to have their PS3 or Xbox 360 laying around and are looking for some under-the-radar games to play, than look no further! Here are some of my favorite overlooked games from the last generation of consoles:
With the extreme success of 'The Walking Dead' television series on AMC, it was only a matter of time before we were given some type of spin-off series set in this zombie infested world. Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert will serve as executive producers for the pilot and Dave Erickson will be the show runner and E.P. as well.
Just because you guys are so awesome, we're gonna giveaway Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's great work with the first Batman New 52 story arc, The Court of Owls Trade Paperback. The rules are quite simple...
This will be the year of Comic Book TV shows. We've had shows in the past, notably Wonder Woman, The Incredible Hulk, and Smallville. More recently we have Arrow and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but this year we will see Gotham, Constantine, and The Flash join the fold. Netflix will premiere five shows available to stream from Marvel Television, Daredevil being the first in 2015 and then Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and eventually The Defenders. And now we're getting word that DC is shopping the idea of a Supergirl television show in the near future.
We finally have confirmation...sorry Liam Neeson, you'll not be needed this go round as Matt Nable has been cast to portray the leader of the League of Assassins, Ra's al Ghul. Stephen Amell tweeted the news before The CW confirmed it.
Looks like we're getting a bigger 'Prison Break' reunion than expected. We found out that Robert Knepper would return to the DC TV Universe on 'The Flash' as Clock King, and that Peter Stormare would take on the role of Count Vertigo on 'Arrow.' We also learned that Wentworth Miller would play the Rogues villain Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold in episode four of 'The Flash.' Now we learn that joining Miller in episode four would be Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory aka Heat Wave.
Well....it's official. The Rock has been cast as Black Adam in an upcoming 'Shazam' film. For those unfamiliar with the character, Black Adam has been both a villain and an anti-hero throughout his long character history. He can fly, is super strong, can manipulate lightening and magic and is comparable to Shazam in almost every way. While we finally have this confirmation of Rock's role, we still don't know when the film is scheduled for release so stay tuned for that news!
For our upcoming Fall TV Preview Show, we want to know what show you're looking forward to most! Hit up the poll and/or reply to this post to let us know!
As we get closer to the Fall TV season beginning, we're getting more and more updates of casting news from all of our favorite shows. This includes as how that doesn't premiere until January, 'Agent Carter.' The Marvel TV series that will follow Peggy Carter in 1946 and deal with the beginnings of S.H.I.E.L.D. and her work as a secret agent. We already know that Hayley Atwell will return as Carter, and we've heard that Dominic Cooper will reprise his role as Daddy Stark, Howard Stark. Now we get news that joining that cast will be two new Agents played by Enver Gjokaj (Dollhouse) and Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill).
The casting news never seems to end with CW's 'Arrow.' It seems they've added another familiar DC character to guest star. Amy Gumenick (Supernatural) has been cast to play Carrie Cutter aka Cupid in episodes six and seven when 'Arrow' returns for season three. Cupid has a deadly obsession with Green Arrow in the comics, and it'll be fun to see that play out...maybe not so much for Ollie.
It was announced a few weeks ago that Devon Aoki would be joining the cast of Arrow for Season 3 as a recurring character. It seems that due to scheduling conflicts, she'll have to leave the show. But fear not, Katana-fans, she's already been recast by someone familiar to the comic book universe. Rila Fukushima (The Wolverine) will be replacing Aoki as Tatsu Yamashiro aka Katana. While we have no confirmation yet, I think its safe to assume we'll be seeing Tatsu in Oliver's flashbacks, but I'm hoping we also get to see her in the present time as well...perhaps fighting alongside Canary, and a fiery red-head named Barbara?
I was in Shreveport in June of 2009 with some fellow fang friends. A long discussion took up the distance between Shreveport and Monroe about how del Toro could be a genius for writing a “true” vampire book. I got home and went straight to the book store. At the end of 2011, I jumped right into the Dark Horse graphic novel adaptation. As you could imagine, when FX stepped in and the pilot was in the works, I was like a kid on Christmas morning.
So after having a fun conversation with a friend of mind and with the release of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' the MCU count being at an even ten I figure ranking the MCU might be fun. Now the Phase Two plan from Marvel ends with 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' but ten is such a nice even, clean number so we'll rank the first ten films of the MCU in order of favorite to least favorite. I say "least favorite" because there's not one MCU film I hated. So I'll get the ball rolling and then all of you fellow AG'ers out there can chime in with your lists and opinions of my list. Here goes!
Just a day ago we heard news that Adrianne Palicki was cast as Mockingbird on this season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for at least one episode. Now we get word that Brian Patrick Wade has been cast to play Carl “Crusher” Creel aka Absorbing Man.
Looks like another evil archer will be visiting the streets of Starling City. Matt Ward (TRON: Legacy, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem) has been cast to play Simon Lacroix aka Komodo. Komodo was introduced in Green Arrow's New 52 run and it looks like he'll make his first appearance on Arrow during episode two and he won't necessarily be a one-shot villain.
