Joss Whedon To Direct Batgirl Film!
DC fans have been upset by the recent releases from the DC Extended Universe of films. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad have left an unending foul taste in their mouths, and they're less than optimistic that the upcoming Wonder Woman film will redeem the shared universe. However, today we get a glimmer of hope within this grey and gloomy universe Zack Snyder has created. Joss Whedon, a Geek God for many, has signed a deal to write, produce and direct a live action Batgirl standalone film.

Contain Your Hype: Nintendo’s Switch Presentation Wrap-up
For weeks Nintendo fans, nay-sayers, onlookers and well-wishers have (Not So) patiently waited for January 12th. Nintendo promised an in depth look at the hardware, games and details regarding the Nintendo Switch on this date, and now that it has come and gone…boy did they come through. As we discovered a couple of weeks ago, Nintendo planned to drop this heap of information in the most Nintendo way possible: In a dedicated presentation aired from Japan at 7Pm PST (which in some countries was about 3 or 4 in the morning). So we waited, queued up our streams and watched as they hopped, splatted and raced their way into our hearts again. Now, when the Switch was first announced, Atomic Geekdom and I brought you a pretty in depth look at the console and some of its features, so this time I’m going to list some of the biggest and most exciting developments from the Switch Presentation and what they meant to me. So let’s get into the meat and juices of this amazing console.
The Lady-Hero is Here To Stay
When it was announced that Star Wars: The Force Awakens would feature a predominant female lead, there was a huge outcry of upset fans claiming this was merely pandering to the feminazi’s of the world. What followed was unprecedented success for the character of Rey, and a slew of new films featuring female superheroes, role models, scientists, and even fish. Similar hatred was spewed when the Ghostbusters reboot and Rogue One were announced, but the people have spoken. The top 2 grossing films of 2016 (Finding Dory, Rogue One)* were centered on stories of girls; their struggles, their coming of age, and their realization of the power of their voices. Regardless of any opinion to the contrary, the female hero is here to stay, and let me just say, it’s about damn time.
Review: "Sherlock: The Six Thatchers"
By Matt Spaulding
It took three long years, but "Sherlock" finally returned this past Sunday night!
It's pretty hard to review a "Sherlock" episode without giving things away. So much happens in each episode, but I'll give it my best shot.
The beginning of the episode picked up pretty much right where last season left off, with the mystery of Moriarty's apparent return from the dead. This fact pries at Sherlock's brain for a bit of the episode, but not for too long because other problems soon arise.
The start of the episode also finds Mary and John expecting their first child, which arrives pretty quickly to drop them into the roll of parenthood to serve other plot lines that arise later.
The main thread of the show arises when Sherlock takes a case to solve the death of a client's son but ends up finding another case at the scene that he finds more interesting and believes to be tied to Moriarty's postmortem plan to get at him. It involves a smashed bust of Margaret Thatcher. He soon discovers more like it are being smashed all over and we eventually learn it ties back to Mary's past as a secret agent.
Meanwhile, we find John dealing with parenthood and going down a rather surprising path for the character, but not one I was unhappy with.
That's about the extent of the plot details that can be shared without ruining the plot. The end of the episode was a huge surprise and one that's going to drastically effect Sherlock and John moving forward and I can't wait to see how it plays out.
Overall, I really loved this episode. It was great to be back with old friends. That said, though, I have to say that I have a small quibble with this episode that carried over from season three: the show just feels different from the first two seasons. It's kind of hard to describe, but it's pretty noticeable. The first two seasons were some of the smartest television I've ever seen, if not the smartest. They focused heavily on the mystery and the tying together of story threads and explaining Sherlock's process. In series three, those sort of took a back seat. They reappeared here, but most of the episode was closer to Guy Ritchie's almost James Bond style Sherlock Holmes than the show "Sherlock" was in the first two series. Based on the end of the episode, I hope it gets back there, though.

What Should We Reboot Today?
Reboots are a hot commodity. Studios are always looking for the next property they can reinvent. Reboots can bring in an already established fan base and invite a brand new audience to delight in rebooted goodness. And while there are some films that definitely should not be touched, looking at you Back to the Future, there are a lot more that deserve to have another go around. Here are five films and one TV show that I think Hollywood should seriously consider:
