The Defenders are here! Here we get a good look at what the show is going to be giving us over 8 episodes. And thank goodness, because these 13 episode long shows are starting to drain me. But let’s talk about what we saw here and figure out whether or not we’re going to be excited!

Marvel's The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal - to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

Personally...and of course it’s personal because I’m the one writing this...I LOVED it. Matt showing up to represent Jessica. Luke and Danny palling around. That punch! I really enjoyed all of the interactions. Luke Cage especially, who is my favorite character of these four, looks like a lot of fun.

Sigourney Weaver looks appropriately evil. I still don’t know who she is supposed to be, a character from the comics or newly created, but I am excited to see her take on our heroes. Stick’s appearance is obligatory and the tease of Elektra is enticing. I hope I like her more in this series than I did in the actual Daredevil show. Claire is finally going to get the chance to merge all the different parts of her life together which is a big draw for me. Though she’s sometimes mishandled, looking at you Iron Fist, she is consistently the best thing about this shared Netflix universe and I can’t wait to see where she ends up at the end of the series...probably crying over Luke and Jessica doing it though.

All in all I enjoyed the trailer. Netflix and Marvel already have my attention and I’m happy with the trailer as it is. August can’t come soon enough.
