Top Ten Horror Films Countdown: #6 28 Days Later

28 Days Later - A Time No One Wants To Be Apart Of.

With Warm BodiesZombieland and of course The Walking Dead, we are in the time of zombies. The Zombie genre is absolutely fascinating for me. I am going to go all the way back and claim that Frankenstein being one of the first greats. There has been some amazing zombie flicks over the decades. Movies like Re-AnimatorResident Evil, and Dead Alive are some greats, but Romero holds the crown with 1968’s “Night of the Living Dead” which in my humble opinion is a pure Classic.

Top Ten Horror Films Countdown: #7 Jaws

When I sat down to think of what films would be on my list, I was surprised how many of them were movies I saw when I was just a kid or young teenager. Were my parents irresponsible for letting such an "impressionable" youth see such violent and horrifying materials? NOPE! First, I probably snuck away to see them, watching them when they weren't home or when I was away for a sleepover or something. Secondly, my parents taught me at very young age what was right and what was wrong, and that there are consequences for our actions. So I was saved from becoming some psychotic axe murderer or something. Still these movies did scare me at a young age, but so did Michael Jackson's video for Thriller. Anyways, let me get down from my soapbox and begin my review for our #7 film, Jaws...

Top Ten Horror Films Countdown: #8 The Shining

Stanley Kubrick is known as one of the greatest cinematographers ever. Next to “A Clockwork Orange” and “2001 A Space Odyssey” sits “The Shining. I remember watching this when I was a kid and getting very bored. I couldn’t quite figure out why Danny’s finger talked to him, but when I re-watched it later in life I started to understand how incredibly creepy this movie is. Creepy in regards to both story and setting.

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' 1st Trailer

So, Marvel "accidentally" leaked the Age of Ultron trailer today, and blamed it on Hydra. Nice. Watch for yourselves, I'm speechless. I can't wait to see this movie, and I think it's going to top Avengers as the biggest comic book movie ever...for now.

Top Ten Horror Films Countdown: #10 Poltergeist

Today we kick off our Top Ten Horror Film Countdown. The Atomic Geekdom staff voted and we put together this list of our favorite horror films. Each day, leading up to Halloween, we'll reveal the next entry in our countdown. So let's begin...

Top Ten Horror Films Countdown: The Bubble List

This month celebrates one of my favorite holidays...Halloween! I have always loved this time of year. Not just the fall weather (if you live in an area to actually have a fall season) and not just because football is in full swing, but because I love everything about Halloween. Decorations on houses, horror movies all over cable television and being released into theaters, cute kids dressed up as superheroes and cartoon characters, what's not to love? So in the spirit of the season, we've chosen to do an all month long theme of Halloween for the podcast and the site.

It appears we won't have to wait too long to see Flash's time traveling nemesis, Reverse Flash on the show. Some photos surfaced from the set earlier today showing stunt doubles filming an upcoming episode of The Flash. Theories are floating around the internet as to who might actually be Reverse Flash, ranging from Eddie Thawne to Harrison Wells. What's your theory?

Ongoing: Thor #1

Ongoing: Thor #1

A few months ago it was announced that Marvel would be replacing the Thor we've known for so long, with a new version...a new female version. This news caused waves in the fanboy comic loving world. We've seen changes to our favorite comic book characters before (see my story about the new Wally West). This change seemed to have come from nowhere, but it wasn't alone. We also found out that we'd be seeing a new Captain America soon in the form of Falcon taking over for Steve Rogers. Well, the time for change has come as Thor #1 has hit shelves this week.

All Hail Joss Whedon

Joss Whedon told the 2013 Graduating class of Wesleyan University “And so, what I’d like to say to all of you is that you are all going to die." And this is one reason why we have come to love him. No one is safe.

PG #2 TMNT

Pop Gospel: 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'

First, let me say that this is an article about the Turtles not the newest movie. I did enjoy the movie and it was good to see them back on the big screen but this article is more about the Turtles as characters not any specific movie, book, or show. I will probably even do more than one TMNT based article going forward. I have loved the turtles since...forever I think. Their adventures and battles against Shredder were always great to watch. Two things always stood out to me; how the brothers needed each other, whether they admitted it or not and their incredible confidence in who they were as individuals in a team. They had their fights, like all siblings, but in the end they came together to save the day. There was one thing that held them together, their father Splinter. I always loved Splinter, not just because he was wise or he could kick butt, but because his faith in his children never wavered. Splinter raised Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo to believe in themselves and each other. He helped them find their identity and how they each fit into the group. Leonardo was a natural leader, Raphael was bold and strong, Donatello was incredibly intelligent, and Mikey loved life and was the one who kept everybody loose. Imagine what this team would look like if Splinter was not around. There would be no team or maybe there would be but it would not be the "save the day" team we know. They would be a mess.
